Auto Generator Start – Onboard Generators

This box is designed for those generators that use three wires; start signal, stop signal, and negative.

This box acts as the connecting interface between a Victron device and an onboard generator. Either Victron device acts as the brain and keeps track of the state of charge or system load. When the specified conditions are met, the Victron device sends a start or stop signal to the generator. However, natively, the generator doesn’t understand this signal from the Victron device. The auto generator start box takes the signal from the Victron device and, using a set of four adjustable relays converts the signal into a signal which the generator recognizes, enabling it to start and stop.

By default this auto generator start box comes setup to send a negative signal to the generator. Optionally, you can purchase this box where it is configured to send a positive signal. Typically I have found that in the RV environment the Onan, NPS, RVMP generators will use negative signal for the remote start/stop operation. However, in the marine environment is where you might have a generator that use a 2 wire positive signal.

Requirements:
– Victron Cerbo GX with SmartShunt or BMV-712
– Generator with a 2 signal wires and a negative wire (some require positive voltage not negative)

Compatibility:
– Negative Signal works with 12v, 24v, and 48v system voltages
– Positive Signal is dependent on the voltage the generator is expecting for the remote signal, typically 12vdc only
– Onan QD3200 not compatible
– RVMP and Marine require easy modification (instructions provided)
– For the Positive version you have the option for DIY (Instructions will be provided on how to make the modifications to make the AGS send a Positive 12v signal) or Pre Built (AGS will be ready to install with all modifications already completed.)
